About John

John Driscoll Candidate, 6th LD, D position 2

First and foremost, John is a very proud father with three adult children.  Like most parents, nothing is more important to him than a bright future for the next generation.  But that’s only the starting point in getting to know this man, who wants to represent all ages and generations in Olympia as your state representative.

As a third-generation Spokane native with family roots dating back more than 100 years, John Driscoll has a lifelong history working hard for our families, young and old alike.   His professional life includes a successful business career in medical service delivery, practice management, and physician recruitment in the Spokane region.  He is currently the director of a non-profit providing health care for low income families.

John is one of those rare folks who truly understands both the public and private sectors because he deals with each every day.  He is a passionate advocate for the possible – not just for what “could” be done – but what “should” be done.  Common sense, good economic judgment, quality education and social justice are among his core values.  John is well qualified to advocate for our regional priorities in Olympia.

Education is a core value because John got a great education right here in the Inland Northwest.    He attended high school at Gonzaga Prep, graduated from WSU, and attained a master's degree from Whitworth College.  John credits his family and that quality education for his success professionally and in raising a healthy, well-adjusted family in Spokane.

Family is the key reason John is seeking elected office in Olympia.   His youngest daughter, Meaghan, is a sophomore at Seattle University; his middle daughter, Shannon, is a school teacher for District 81; his oldest son, Jack, works in Spokane and is married with 3 children.   John wants good family wage jobs for all our children and grandchildren, so they can live here in Spokane and enjoy the quality of life this region affords.  Don’t we owe all our children at least this?

Business has always been a major part of John’s life.   He understands all sides of the health care issue.  His dad is a retired doctor so John’s knowledge comes from both his own family experience and his professional career in healthcare administration.  John knows the important role our health care industry plays in the local economy.   He has successfully advocated for health care research and access funding in Olympia and Washington DC.  He is ready to leverage progress for Spokane’s families and our economy.

Community is more than a concept for John – it’s central to his life; he has been involved in the community throughout his career. Through service on the public policy committee for Greater Spokane, Inc; the disabilities committee for Rotary 21; on the board of Washington State School for the blind; and as past president of Ronald McDonald House, John has in-depth knowledge of community issues and practical experience. He has worked locally and in Olympia to solve problems and bring needed services to our region.

John knows first hand that people choose to live in Spokane, because of our quality schools, safe neighborhoods, and family friendly city.  Our citizens care about quality of life and opportunity for themselves, their children and grandchildren.  High caliber education, family wage jobs and accessible quality healthcare all play a key role in our future, and are issues John understands. He wants our State to invest in our community, just like all of us who live here do on a daily basis!!! Together, we will continue to make Spokane a great place to live
